Victoria, British Columbia police officer injured in fight with man during Santa Claus parade – British Columbia

A police officer in Victoria, British Columbia, was injured after a police officer got into a fight with a man who allegedly assaulted another person at the Santa Parade.

A parade-goer at the Peninsula Corp Santa Claus Parade on Saturday told VicPD officers that a man had assaulted someone, was walking in the crowd, and was trying to incite more brawls.

Police said the man who was allegedly assaulted was not injured.

“Police officers approached the man and escorted him away from the parade route so that he could be safely arrested in a safe location away from bystanders and children,” a Victorian Police official said.

“When the officers tried to arrest the man, he started fighting them. After a few minutes, the officers were able to detain the man.”

A policeman wounded in the fighting suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
