The WHL club announced Monday that it has made two separate trades for forwards Jaxsen Wiebe and Carson Golder.

Weave is heading to the Prince George Cougars as an eighth-round pick in the 2026 conditional draft. In return, the Oil Kings will receive forward Noah Boyko, a third-round pick in 2023 and a conditional third-round pick in 2026.

Oil Kings general manager Kurt Hill said the deal was a homecoming of sorts for Boyko, who hails from Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.

“It’s always nice to have a local player in the lineup who knows the city and the club,” Hill said in a news release, adding that Boyko is a former WHL first-round pick. rice field.

Known for his physical play, Wiebe scored eight points in 13 postseason games against the Oil Kings last season, helping Edmonton reach the Memorial Cup tournament.

Hill credited Wieb with becoming a fan favorite through “his hard-hitting, competitive style of play.”

Golder, who has played a total of 70 games for the Oil Kings since joining the club in 2021, was traded to the Kelowna Rockets along with a third-round draft pick in 2023.
