Andrea McArdle starred as a famous orphan in Broadway’s original “Annie” and played a role in the next live version of NBC’s hit musical.

Sadly, the family crisis reportedly forced her to resign from NBC’s next “Annie Live!” Man..

“It’s sad to announce that we’re not going to’Annie Live!’,” McCardle, who was planning to play Eleanor Roosevelt in production, said in a statement.

“My dad is currently in the hospital, and I need to devote all my energy to his health and well-being,” she added. “I hope everyone involved in the production will be very successful. Everyone breaks their legs.”

Bob Greenblatt, executive producer of “Annie Live!”, Also made a statement about her departure. “We love Andrea McCardle and the whole company is sending her and her father the best wishes,” Greenblatt said. “Our Annie, Serena Smith, is excited to see her and she is excited to follow incredible footsteps.”

McCardle wasn’t the first actor forced to leave production. Jane Krakowski, cast as Lily St. Regis, was diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID despite being double-vaccinated, despite being regularly tested according to all protocols.
