Ontario’s Long-Term Care Minister Rod Phillips Leaves State Politics

Ontario’s long-term care minister, Rod Phillips, has announced that he has resigned and will not seek reelection in the spring.

Philips made its announcement on Friday afternoon in a statement shared on social media.

“I’ve always considered public services a privilege. I’m honored to serve with Ajax’s MPP and three cabinet portfolios, but since my professional life has been spent in the business world, I look forward to returning to the private sector, “he said.

Phillips was formerly the Finance Minister of Ontario, but after it was revealed that he had traveled to St. Barts while his government was urging Ontario people to avoid non-essential trips. I resigned from that role last December.

He was appointed Minister of Nursing Care in June after the cabinet reshuffle.
