Ontario reports nearly 2,100 new cases of coronavirus, the highest positive rate since January

Ontario reports about 2,100 new cases of COVID-19 today, as the state-wide positive rate exceeded 6% for the first time since January.

Ontario today reports 2,094 new cases of the disease caused by the new coronavirus, down from 2,448 on Sunday and 2,453 on Saturday, but up from 1,699 last week.

The 7-day average of new infections went from 1,600 to 2,094 last Monday.

Only 39,470 tests have been processed in the last 24 hours, with a state-wide positive rate of 6.1%, the highest positive rate reported since January 19.

Today, another 10 virus-related deaths were reported in the state, bringing the number of deaths from COVID-19 in Ontario to 7,337.
