Okanagan Hockey Academy graduate signs with NHL’s Blackhawks
Luipen has scored 124 points in 200 career WHL games
A player from Kelowna has signed with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Jalen Luypen signed an entry-level contract on Tuesday with the team that drafted him in the seventh round (216th overall) of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

In his four-year WHL career with the Edmonton Oil Kings, he scored 124 points (61 goals, 63 assists) in 200 games. His 64 of those points came in his 66 games last season, and he also scored nine points during his run in the team’s playoffs.
In this year’s Memorial Cup, he scored three goals in three games.
Prior to the WHL, Ruipen played for the Okanagan Hockey Academy.
Luypen’s entry-level contract is for three years.
