Oilers announces assistant Manson, Grutzan returns to Woodcroft coach staff

Edmonton — Edmonton Oilers said assistant coaches Dave Manson and Glen Grutzan will return next season as the NHL team strengthens their hockey management staff on Thursday.

The Oilers also announced the return of goalkeeper Dustin Schwartz and video director Jeremy Coupal, and Brad Holland was promoted to professional scout assistant general manager.

Manson joined the Oilers in February with head coach Jaywood Croft from the American Hockey League Bakersfield Condors.

The 55-year-old is responsible for the Oilers Defense Corps.

51-year-old Glutzan is celebrating his fifth season at the Oilers. Former Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames head coaches will continue to be the team’s leading power play architects.

Woodcroft, who was appointed as interim coach for the Oilers in the middle of the 2021-22 season after Dave Tippett’s dismissal, signed an extension on June 21st.

The Oilers went to 26-9-3 after the arrival of Woodcroft and Manson to advance to the Western Conference final.

The Netherlands, the son of Ken Holland, general manager and president of the Oilers, joined the organization as a scout in 2019.

The Oilers also said they have expanded their video division and promoted Noah Segal as a video coordinator.

Segal previously held the same position as Bakersfield.
