Kent District wildfires still out of control, minimal fire activity: Fire Department
Two wildfires continue to burn in the Kent area, but the spread of the blazes is minimal, according to the Agassiz Fire Department.
“For the most part, there is no change. There is a little wind in the Bear Mountain bushfires and a little bit of activity,” said Agassiz Fire Chief Gerald Basten.
“The Mount Limbert wildfire has limited fire activity and remains within a containment line around the firehead.”

The Kent District declared a local state of emergency on Thursday night and issued an evacuation alert for residents at risk from the Mount Limbert wildfires on Friday.
We continue to ask the public to avoid the Limbert and Cameron Road area.

Structural protection is being deployed at facilities near the Mount Limbert wildfires.
“The Agassiz Fire Department continues to monitor both blazes with crews at each site to monitor the spread of the blaze.
“At the moment, both are within containment lines, so the fire is allowed to burn.”
The fire department said the terrain, dead trees and wind made firefighting efforts dangerous for crews on the ground, but the fire chief said the fire department would not be challenged on Saturday or Sunday.
“We are confident the fire will stay within the perimeter,” Basten said.
