NFC Bitcoin Card Launches in El Salvador – Bitcoin Magazine
- CoinCorner launches services in El Salvador.
- The company aims to fill a gap in the user experience of the first country to declare BTC as legal tender last year.
- CoinCorner has also partnered with Bitcoin and Lightning payment gateway provider IBEX to add support for NFC-enabled Bolt cards.
Bitcoin company CoinCorner is expanding its services into the Latin American region, looking to capitalize on the growing penetration in such countries.
The expansion brings CoinCorner’s products to El Salvador, which last September became the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender.
“Starting today, El Salvador residents will be able to open accounts and gain access to all of CoinCorner’s bitcoin and lighting services,” CoinCorner said in a statement sent to Bitcoin Magazine. “USDT will be available on our platform for users in El Salvador as well as with the full functionality of The Bolt Card.”
The company said that despite passing a Bitcoin law, the Central American country still struggles with Bitcoin’s poor usability and UX, a gap that CoinCorner is trying to fill.
CoinCorner CEO Danny Scott said:
As part of the expansion, CoinCorner will also partner with Bitcoin and Lightning payment gateway IBEX. The partnership will allow IBEX to integrate his NFC capabilities into his IBEX Pay solution, allowing Salvadorans to use his CoinCorner’s Bolt cards at merchants.
“CoinCorner launched The Bolt Card earlier this year as the world’s first contactless card with Near Field Communication (NFC) and Bitcoin Lightning Network.” ‘Pay with’ feature is revolutionizing the Bitcoin payments industry. ”
