Quebec police have announced that the newborn of a woman who reportedly gave birth in her car on Thursday night has died.
A spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) said officers from the Roussillon police in the Monterésy region responded to a 911 call from a 38-year-old woman who had parked her car on the side of a road in La Prairie. southeast of Montreal.
Authorities said only a woman and a baby were in the car when local police arrived.

The investigation was turned over to SQ’s Major Crimes Unit. This is an automatic process for the death of a young child in the state.
An autopsy was performed to determine the cause of the baby’s death, and officials say they will visit the woman when her health returns.
