New owners Byron and Kim Wilson took possession of the facility in February and are looking to bring the community together with everything they have to offer.

“Until now, the Yardhouse was just a baseball facility that most people thought was for elite-level baseball players,” Byron said. “We are serious about bringing our programs and sports technology to the community and connecting with communities around the world, especially in the United States.”

The Wilson family moved to the Lower Mainland in 2019 from Jacksonville, Florida. During my time there, I came to Kelowna to host several sports camps and fell in love with the city.

After a while, an opportunity arose to manage The Yardhouse. A few months later, the opportunity arose to become an owner.

“My number one thing is to get my kids involved, keep them from getting hurt, and give them the opportunity, the experience, and the access,” Wilson said. , we want our kids to have that access, they want them to take it to the next level, but there isn’t much information on how to get there…and we can’t fill that gap I can do it.”

Wilson has also introduced some advanced technology into their facility, and some of the same advancements are used by well-known sports brands and teams.

Wilson also works for another company called Swift, which specializes in advanced sports technology, improving and innovating how people play different sports and become better athletes. Swift has worked with teams and companies across North America, including the Toronto Blue Jays, Nike, CCM, PBR Baseball, and multiple hockey academies.

Baseball players can sign up for training, camping, or cage rentals. Wilson also has various sports assessment and performance programs for performance and injury prevention.

He also has a baseball evaluation called DVS, a medically-backed arm care program to prevent injury.

Wilson brought in some of the top baseball coaches in the area and assisted several connections at camp, including former ML player Eric Owens, who played for five teams in nine major league seasons and was a hitter. I am considering doing it. Coach of the Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Wilson wants to teach parents, families, and children new experiences and participate in multiple sports in order to become better athletes, not just baseball.

“Proper athletic development is a pillar of success in any sport,” said Wilson. “These pillars and foundations are what we are working on athletically and crossover into other sports.”

On the football side, Wilson will help former Okanagan Sun coach Jamie Boreham.

The facility has 4,800 square feet of space that can be divided into four 70-foot long retractable cages. They are considering adding synthetic ice to their hockey training section.

There is also a weight room.

Another focus of Wilson’s is facilitating the transition for athletes who go to the United States for post-secondary sports opportunities. This is because the landscape varies greatly from country to country (and vice versa for the athletes at his facility in Jacksonville). to Canada).

“[Athletes] In Florida, Georgia, Texas and California, they play sports all year round, but the kids here can only play five months,” Wilson said. “It’s usually a very rude awakening. You’re dealing with a different mentality when you cross borders.”

Many athletes have made their way from the B3 program to the four major sports. One of his more recent celebrities is New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones. He started his B3 program when he was 7 years old.

Wilson also said he would like to be more involved with Kelowna’s First Nations community.

The Yard House is also available for birthday parties. Located at #2-360 Spedding Court, Kelowna. For more information, visit her website at The Yardhouse.
