Two more charged with murder in Laval restaurant shooting

An investigation into the death of Bernard Scherfan, a 42-year-old man involved in organized crime who was murdered in a restaurant in Laval in June, led to the arrest of two people charged with murder after appearing in court on Wednesday.

19-year-old Tafari Bezabe, who was already in custody in a Toronto jail in a separate case, was formally charged with first-degree murder during a videoconference on Wednesday.

Sûreté du Québec and Laval police investigators also arrested Jalen Joel Campbell Browin in Ontario. He also attended a video conference at Laval Court to be charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy after the fact.
Cherfan was seated at a table at La Perle Vietnamienne restaurant on Laurentides Blvd. He was shot at around 7:30 pm in the Vimont district of Laval. There were about 20 people in the restaurant at the time, including children.
Britney Lewis, 25, of Pickering, Ontario, was also arrested shortly after the murder and charged with first-degree murder.
