Multiple earthquakes reported in northern Alberta

Multiple earthquakes were recorded in northern Alberta on Tuesday night.

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake was recorded around 4:45 p.m. at a depth of 4 kilometers, about 354 kilometers northwest of Edmonton and about 29 kilometers east-northeast of the Hamlet in Reno, according to the Canadian Seismological Service.

The quake was reported as “a light feeling in the surroundings,” and there are currently no reports of damage.

Just an hour later, Earthquakes Canada reported a magnitude 6.0 earthquake at about 5:55 pm at a depth of 2 kilometers. The seismic event occurred about 26 kilometers northeast of Reno and about 356 kilometers northwest of Edmonton.

According to Earthquake Canada, the quake was “strongly felt in the surrounding area.” No damage reported.

Last week, November 24th, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake was felt in the region.

Albertans took to social media to report feeling the quake, including in central Edmonton.
