MSE focuses on three key technology priorities: Gartner

Security and risk management, application and integration strategy, and infrastructure and operations will be the top three technology priorities for midsize enterprises (MSEs) in 2022, according to a study released today by Gartner, Inc.

Research firm analyst Mike Sisek said:

“However, the accelerating rate of change in security, infrastructure, applications, and cloud ecosystems is complicating the choice of new tools. MSE technology leaders accelerate time to value We need to operate our investments quickly in order to do so.”

To further complicate matters, Gartner points out that inflation will undoubtedly affect MSE budgets next year, stating: Due to the size and scale of their operations, MSEs are often the first to feel the effects of inflation and are most vulnerable to negative long-term effects. “

“In the 2022 Gartner CEO and Senior Business Executives Survey, 86% of MSE CEOs cited the belief that inflation will rise significantly, with the majority saying that the impact of inflation would be 12-36% thereafter. The most common response to inflation among MSE CEOs was to raise prices, followed by efforts to optimize costs.”

Cisek notes that historically, “the response to economic uncertainty has been to cut costs rather than defend new or additional investments. and accounted for 4.7% of total revenue, leaving little room for cost optimization efforts.

The Gartner survey was conducted with 134 MSE Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and IT leaders from March to April 2022. Respondent was asked to identify her current IT projects that correlated with her top technology priorities.
