A 74-year-old woman who went missing while picking mushrooms northeast of Prince Albert has been found dead.
According to the RCMP, a search party found Royce Chartran’s body on August 14 in a wooded area about a kilometer from where she was last seen. Her family has been notified.
Chartrand was last sighted around 11:00 am on August 4, 30 kilometers northeast of Hanson Lake Road. An experienced mushroom picker, Chartrand got separated from another person he was with. Her man started looking for her and asked her police for her help.
Officers were in contact with her Chartrand via two-way radio as of 6:00 a.m. on August 5, but a severe thunderstorm limited their ability to locate her.
