Host Simu Liu needed help to launch the 2022 Juno Awards.
In the night’s hilarious opening segment, a “Xiangqi” star sought advice from a hotel room with former host Michael Bublé on a video call.

“Are you nervous?” Bouble asks. “Don’t get confused and become a meme forever.”
Then he pulls out a huge binder full of hints. “Stick on the script. Sometimes it’s not as interesting as we think.”
After jumping before time, exhausted Liu listens while Bouble continues. “Hint number 74: Never look directly at Shawn Mendes with your eyes.”
Another jump destination: “Hint 124: Ryan is answering the phone, just press the red button and you’ll see one of them. Everything is fine. It doesn’t matter.”

Then Liu has to go, otherwise he will be late, so he hooks up the ride with his “convenience of Kim” co-star Andrew Pun.
While the crew was about to activate the “Ryan Protocol,” Liu arrived just in time and erased B on the wall with pictures of Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, and Bryan Adams.
“Man, your superhero certainly likes to truncate it,” says the crew.
“Oh no,” Liu said. “I’m not a superhero. I’m the host of Junos.”
