Reached $10 million settlement with Roman Catholic Church in NS sexual abuse case
A court in Halifax-Nova Scotia has approved a $10 million settlement against approximately 90 survivors of sexual abuse by a Roman Catholic clergy who worked with the Archdiocese of Halifax Yarmouth.
Nova Scotia Supreme Court Justice Christa Brothers approved the settlement on Monday.
The class action allegations date back to 1954.
Attorney John McKigan says the settlement will pay survivors between $30,000 and $350,000 each.
The lawsuit was first filed in court in August 2018.
Most of the survivors are now elderly.
