Madonna looks back on the biggest hits of her career, including one of the most iconic TV performances of all time.

In an interview on Wednesday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Madge showed off her musical skills in a classroom instrument performance, boasted of her drumming skills, and played a naughty word-association game with the host. She also shared the true story behind her jaw-dropping performance at the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards in 1984.

Noting that she “didn’t say anything” about which singles were released from her label at the time, Madonna said, “I thought it was pretty controversial, so I would promote ‘Like a Virgin’ at the time.” “It turned out that it wasn’t the song itself that caused the controversy, but my performance at the MTV Awards.”

Madonna remembers one of her shoes falling off as she descended the steep steps of her oversized wedding cake on stage.

“I was trying to do this smooth movement, like putting on shoes to make it look like choreography, and then the dress popped up and I could see my butt,” she recalled. “Can you imagine?” There was a time when you couldn’t show your butt to advance your career, now it’s the other way around.”

Madonna said she didn’t know she was exposing her butt during the performance.

“It was a coincidence, I didn’t even know my butt was exposed, and I didn’t even see my whole butt. It was like a butt cheek, half of my butt cheek. “When I went backstage, my manager said my career was over.”

Today, the 53-year-old superstar is celebrating the release of his new full-length album. Last Enough Love: 50 Number Ones, It features remixes of her chart-topping hits.
