Mabel Lake has no water, Grindrod – Vernon Morning Star

From 8am to 2pm on Saturday, September 24th, customer taps on Grindrod and Mabel Lake water will dry up.

The North Okanagan Regional District (RDNO) has informed all customers served in these areas that BC Hydro’s rolling blackouts will result in the loss of water service.

Customers in these areas are encouraged to stockpile water for this short outage for cooking and toilet use prior to the disruption.

Once the water supply is restored, Grindrod’s customers will receive water quality recommendations until sampling confirms the safety of the supply.

A water quality advisory or boiling water notice must also be issued if a tank is drained in the Mabel Lakes area. Customers are notified of recommendations via community sandwich boards.

Power outages may be extended in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

When the water supply is restored, there may be cloudiness and air in the water. Slowly run the cold tap closest to where the water enters your home until the water is clear.

If you have any questions, please contact the RDNO Utilities Department at 250-550-3700.

Until the advisory is revoked, customers (particularly infants, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems) may choose to boil water for at least one minute for consumption purposes such as:

• Drinking

• brushing teeth

Wash fruits and vegetables that are eaten raw

• Meal preparation

• Mix powdered milk

• make drinks and ice
