Woman stabbed to death in Milton, suspect arrested

A woman was stabbed to death in Milton on Tuesday afternoon, and a suspect has been arrested, according to Halton County Police.

Officers were called to the Gosford Cress residence around 5:45 p.m. Regarding reported stings.

Constant Ryan Anderson told reporters that scene cops arrived at the house and found the female victim with life-threatening injuries.

She was taken to hospital but later died.

Constant Steve Elms confirmed a 911 call was made Wednesday morning from inside the home where the woman was stabbed.

It was not possible to confirm the relationship between the victim and the suspect, or whether there were any children in the home at the time.

Assad Rashid, 40, is currently charged with second-degree murder.

There was still a large police presence in this new middle-class neighborhood where mothers were walking with strollers on Wednesday morning.

“It’s a young neighborhood that’s very lively and friendly, but I don’t think you’ll ever know what’s going on in people’s homes,” said Ruth, who was walking her dog.
