GE Haussmann renovated Paris in the mid-to-late 1800s. He transformed it into the magnificent world-class city it is today.

As the Calgary Ring Road nears completion, there is an opportunity to do something grand, environmentally significant, rich and beautiful. The clever placement of deciduous trees and bushes such as maples, birches and evergreens to break up the monotony of highways and the natural application of landscape design with windswept grasses and, where safe and appropriate, natural rocks. it’s simple. Imagine, practical and cost-effective. It’s not like there are three or four trees blocking the roadside every five kilometers.

The options are endless, and any good landscape architect knows that. A well-crafted plan, well-executed and with the determination to make it world-class, can transform Calgary into both a place to live and a place to visit.

Re: Smith Announces Her Sovereignty Act, Nov 30

My message to Prime Minister Daniel Smith: I am Canadian and Albertan. After you come and go as head of this state, I will stay with you both.

Rob Butler, Calgary

Measure 1 accomplishes nothing more than satisfying Smith’s supporters.

Prior to the introduction of Alberta’s Bill 1 on Sovereignty, who had the power to determine the constitutional validity of laws? The Federal Courts, and the Supreme Court of Canada at the highest level. If Alberta’s Bill 1 is passed, who has the authority to determine the constitutional validity of the law? Same answer.

Bill 1 is a poor attempt to address the ongoing struggle over constitutional authority. It serves to further confuse and divide Albertans and does not address the absolute need for a thoughtful and vigorous strategy to defend Alberta’s constitutional turf. , but will almost certainly exacerbate and escalate tensions and mistrust between those working in both jurisdictions. If enacted, it would also help send a general message that the Alberta Legislature is unnecessarily obstructive as well as incompetent and poorly led.

The best we can hope for at this point is that Bill 1 is seen as a weak and contrived attempt to pay off the debt to those who voted for Prime Minister Daniel Smith as leader. is to be rejected by parliament.

Albertans are not concerned with sovereignty

If people awaiting triage have recently had the misfortune of having to line up outside to access the emergency department, the inside is filled with people standing on their shoulders with nowhere to sit, and hallways stretched out on stretchers. It’s full of people on board. You may wonder why Prime Minister Daniel Smith has made Alberta’s sovereignty such a priority.

After the emergency visit, it’s clear that there are much more important issues at hand.

It’s time Smith stopped pretending Ottawa was a problem and started addressing the issues that actually matter to the average Albertan.
