Letter, November 25, 2022: “Stop spending money like Marie Antoinette”

So the mayor and council are considering a four-year budget proposal with tax increases. Admittedly, her four-year budget in Calgary requires a pretty big table. I can’t imagine billions of dollars actually being scattered across this metaphorical table. With all due respect, I don’t know the actual financial or business acumen that the mayor or city council are at the helm to manage such a staggering financial scale, but they I’m not at all convinced that I have the necessary skills. I have yet to see any evidence to prove otherwise. With this in mind, as a property owner and tax paying citizen, may I submit a proposal to City Hall? Don’t spend more money than any of us have. Stop spending money like Marie Antoinette and start saving a little. What a concept! It may not be popular around the big table in City Hall, but it will show real leadership and financial responsibility. There is no doubt that today’s and tomorrow’s fiscal feasts will lead to higher taxes and a significantly higher debt burden. Bringing more serious hunger budgets and diets for working Calgarians in the near future.

bend like fifa
Let’s be honest! FIFA and IOC are the same. Both organizations are corrupt and have been and are led by individuals who have been and willfully received bribes from their host nations. It doesn’t take a genius to understand that Qatar bought its way to host the World Cup. It would be interesting to find out the amount. Many sports organizations today are so dishonorable and unscrupulous that they believe they can get away with anything. Ask Hockey Canada!

Pay attention
Rachel Notley needs to see the union contract that supports her. Like me, most people have a medical bills account. They are used to pay for expenses in excess of what your plan covers. Excludes prescription fees, therapy, chiropractic, dental, etc. This money will save you out-of-pocket costs. Almost all unions have these plans. Wake up, Rachel.

new scam out there
Just wanted to share with Calgary Sun readers about a new scam. I received a voicemail stating that my credit card was frozen. The number on the back of the card did not match. Don’t be fooled by this. If in doubt, always contact your bank directly.
