Austin, Texas (AP) — Several female lawyers suing Deshaun Watson for sexual misconduct are seeking documents from the NFL’s investigation into a former Houston Texans quarterback.
According to a complaint filed Friday by female lawyers Tony Busby and Cornelia Brandfield Harvey, the legal team has received all reports from the NFL’s investigation into Watson, including recorded interviews, witness statements, and correspondence. I’m asking for a file. Notification of intent to take testimony by written question also requires photographs and “files and / or other types of documents within Deshaun Watson’s investigation.”
Watson, who was later traded to Cleveland Browns, denied cheating and vowed to reveal his name.
The hearing with retired judge Sue L. Robinson, the NFL’s disciplinary officer, ended last week in Delaware. Robinson is expected to decide before the Browns open training camp whether a 26-year-old player violates the league’s personal course of action and imposes disciplinary action.
The two who attended the hearing last week told the Associated Press that the NFL had insisted on an indefinite suspension, but Watson’s legal team had insisted that the punishment had no basis.
Last month, Watson settled 20 of the 24 proceedings accusing him of sexual misconduct while playing for the Texans.
