Law Banning Workplace Threats Comes Into Force In Ontario
The man was indicted thanks to a new law introduced by the Liberal government in 2021 that makes it illegal to intimidate health workers or prevent them from providing care to patients. According to the Canadian Press, this is the third time that an individual has been accused of threatening a health care worker, the other being in Peterborough, Ontario, where he was killed in January. It was broken.
The introduction of the law comes at a time when vaccine mandates and other COVID-related regulations have increased harassment and aggressive behavior directed at healthcare workers. But attacks against health care workers are nothing new. In fact, various reports in 2019 have already revealed just how vulnerable healthcare workers are to attacks. 88% were found to have suffered from physical violence in the workplace.

The attack extends not only to healthcare workers, but also to employees of companies that impose vaccine regulations.
