Gausman was hit on the side of his foot on a 100 mph line drive from Rays star Wander Franco on Saturday, knocking him out of the game in three tops. The Blue Jays diagnosed Gausman with a bruise on his right leg and said his X-rays returned negative.
It’s still unclear if Gausman will be able to make his next start in Seattle on Thursday night. On Monday, a veteran right-handed said he was still struggling to push with his feet, but added that he would better understand his condition after Tuesday’s bullpen session. ..
Gausman said he would only pitch to the Mariners if he was confident that doing so would not exacerbate his injury, said message manager Charlie Montoyo. echo..
“If he’s not 100 percent, he’s not going to sell,” Montoyo said.
Gausman has had an all-star caliber season so far, with ERA 2.86 and strikeouts 100 in the first 16 starts.
