Kevin Costner has paid tribute to his “Field of Dreams” co-star Ray Liotta, who died in May at the age of 67.

On Thursday, August 11th, Major League Baseball hosted its annual Field of Dreams game. This is Costner’s 1989 baseball movie Dreams on the Field.

During Thursday’s game, a video was aired in which Costner paid tribute to Liotta, who played a shirtless Joe Jackson in the film.

“Field of Dreams is about belief and those rare moments when magic becomes real. And unless Shoeless Joe is someone special, it won’t work unless it’s worth the wait. And Ray Liotta was special,” Costner says in the video.

“When Ray passed away in May, I remembered that the moment we had batting practice together wasn’t a stunt. The narration was accompanied by scenes from the movie.

“I said God gave us that stunt that night, and now God has Ray. It’s the beauty of movies like “Of Dreams.” Every time he leaves the cornfield, he lives forever in our hearts. He’s gone forever,” Costner said.

“Hurray Shoeless Joe, and hurray Ray. You showed us that when dreams come from the heart, they can really come true,” he concluded.

In May, Costner revealed on social media that he was “devastated to hear the news of Ray Liotta’s passing.”
