“With Universal’s support, I made the difficult decision to resign as FASTX director while leaving the project as a producer,” he said.

“We’ve been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best car chase in more than 10 years and five films,” continued Lin. “Personally, as a child of Asian immigrants, I’m proud to help build the most diverse franchise in film history. Great cast, crew, studio support and welcoming me to the FAST family. Thank you forever for what you did. “

according to deadlineLin’s decision is due to creative differences, but the farewell seems to be friendly.

Production has been suspended as executives and producers are looking for a new director, and the May 19, 2023 release date of the film is not expected to be affected.

Lin participated in the franchise with the third entry, “Fast and Furious X Tokyo Drift,” which introduced the popular character Han played by Sung Kang. He directed the 4th, 5th and 6th installations and then returned directly to “F9”.

The director was also expected to direct the eleventh and final film in the franchise, which will be released in February 2024.
