Jon Voight wants to make it harder for people with mental illness in the United States to get a gun.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, actor and vocalist Donald Trump’s supporters called for gun control after being shot at a school in Yuvalde, Texas earlier this week.

“It’s not left, right, guns, without guns. It’s about a dysfunctional brain. It’s mental,” Voight said.

“It’s not about left, right, guns, without guns. It’s about the dysfunctional brain. It’s mental,” he continued. “This is not for healthy humans to serve the country with weapons, and this Constitution is not even the right to carry weapons.”

Voit went on to say, “We must identify every individual for their qualifications, because of their mental ability to possess weapons.”

He then outlined the gun controls he wanted to implement to prevent harmers from getting deadly weapons.

“Gun ownership and proper testing require proper qualifications. You only need to own a gun if you are qualified and attend school,” Voight explained. “May God watch over everything and bring comfort to this loss that may never heal. Each child was a very valuable gift.”

In commenting on the post, Voight thanked and praised his message.

A shooting on May 24 killed 19 children and two teachers.
