Johnny Depp’s Witnesses are mysteriously inconsistent with Amber Heard’s main witnesses-nationwide

Falls Church, Virginia (AP) — Johnny Depp’s defamation lawyer against his ex-wife Amber Heard heard a fragment of testimony on Tuesday that contradicts one of Hard’s main witnesses, but much in context. Was removed.

Jennifer Howell, who once hired Hard’s sister Whitney Henrikes, briefly testified in a six-week civil trial through a testimony record recorded on Tuesday.

Depp has filed a defamation complaint in the Fairfax County Circuit Court in December 2018. She describes herself as “a public figure representing domestic violence” in the Washington Post. His lawyer says he was defamed by the article, even though his name was not mentioned.

Depp denies that he hit Hard and says she was an abuser of the relationship. She heard about more than 12 separate examples of physical abuse she says she suffered from Depp’s hands.

Howell testified that he sent an email in 2020 asking Henrikes to tell the truth.

However, the jury did not see the letter, and Howell did not explain how Henrikes thought it was not true. The edited testimony was taken in court for less than 15 minutes — Howell appeared to have escaped from the testimony before the lawyer completed the question.

In court documents, Howell explains in much more detail. She made a four-page declaration, and Henriques confessed to her that Haad was an invader of the battle, and Henriquez said Haad thought she was “intended to kill Johnny.”

Howell also states in the Declaration that Henriques had told her and others at work that Depp had cut off Depp’s finger in a couple’s battle in Australia. Amputated fingers have been controversial throughout the trial. Depp says his finger was amputated when Hard threw a bottle of vodka at him. The night when her Depp was engulfed in her drunken anger and sexually assaulted her with her bourbon bottle, Depp heard that she did it herself.

Henriques is the only witness to testify in a six-week trial that he personally witnessed Depp physically attacking Hard.

It is not entirely clear why Howell’s testimony was so limited. However, throughout the trial, Judge Penny Azkarate strictly enforced rules limiting hearsay evidence, and Howell’s explanation of what Henrikes said to her unless Depp’s lawyer could make some exceptions to the hearsay rules. Is probably a classic example of hearsay.

In Howell’s declaration, she admitted that she was upset when she learned that Haad had promised millions of dollars to the American Civil Liberties Union and a children’s hospital. And it hired Henrikes.

The limited nature of Howell’s testimony makes it unclear whether the jury will elicit the connection that Depp’s team wants to make.

Howell testified as Depp’s objectioner after resting her proceedings on Tuesday morning without calling Depp to the stand — Hard’s lawyer initially proposed calling Depp as a witness.

The jury may still hear more from Depp. His team has shown that he may be called to the stand on Wednesday.

Both Depp and Hard have already extensively testified to the details of their toxic relationship.

Also on Tuesday, celebrity news site TMZ filed an urgent motion to block the testimony of former employee Morgan Tremaine.

TMZ is concerned that Tremaine testified about Depp on Wednesday and is ready to violate the confidentiality obligations provided by the press to the sources that provided TMZ with information related to the couple’s attention-grabbing divorce. He said he was.

Haad denied informing the press of the fact that he had obtained a temporary detention order after applying for a divorce from Depp in 2016. Haad claimed that Depp had abused her in the application and filmed the paparazzi leaving the court, apparently bruised. On her cheek.

Depp’s lawyer said she sought publicity about her allegations of abuse in order to falsely damage his reputation.

Also on Tuesday, Judge Penny Azkarate dismissed Depp’s lawyer’s motion to revoke the $ 100 million counterclaim filed against Depp. The counterclaim alleges that Depp’s then-lawyer, Adam Waldman, defamed her hard when he called her allegations of abuse hoax.

Mr Azkarate said the criteria for revoking a claim before filing it with a jury trial are very high and that there is sufficient evidence to move it forward. She had already ruled that Depp could be held responsible for the statements made by his lawyer, in principle Depp’s team argues.
