Johnny Depp transforms into King Louis XV in first feature film since Amber Heard trial

Johnny Depp is royalty in the love story “Jeanne du Barry” by leading French director Maiwen.

Why Not Productions has released the first teaser image of Depp playing Louis XV in the film. Louis XV, also known as Louis the Beloved, ruled France from September 1, 1715 until he May 10, 1774.

This period piece is inspired by the life of Jeanne du Barry, the last royal mistress of Louis XV after Madame de Pompadour. Born into poverty, her cunning and charisma helped her climb the French social ladder.

This casting will be Depp’s first feature film in three years. His three-time Oscar nominee was previously expected to return to the Pirates of the Caribbean series. An explosive fallout between him and ex Amber Heard put an end to that. His last major film role was as his W. Eugene his Smith in 2020’s ‘Minamata’.
