‘John Wick’ Prequel series coming to Peacock

The “John Wick” franchise is expanding into television. On Monday, Peacock said the streaming platform had partnered with Lionsgate on “Continental,” his three-part “special event” series starring Colin Woodell and Mel Gibson, based on the action film franchise. clarified.

First announced in 2018, the series was originally set to air on Starz. It is currently scheduled to premiere in Peacock in 2023.

“The John Wick movies have become a global phenomenon and are one of Peacock’s most watched titles. Group Chair Kevin Beggs added, “We are delighted to partner with Peacock to continue expanding the world of John Wick.”

According to Peacock, the series will follow hotel manager Winston Scott in the 1970s, “telling the origin story and inner workings of the luxury Continental Hotel, which is central to the John Wick universe and serves as a haven for assassins.” It’s about searching for mechanisms. In an attempt to seize control of an iconic location, Winston is sucked into “New York City’s mysterious underworld.”

“The Continental” stars Woodell as a younger version of Winston, the character created by Ian McShane in the film. McShane has appeared in his first three films starring Keanu Reeves and is set to reprise his role in the forthcoming fourth sequel.
