Fans criticized the move as insensitive, especially given the life-changing moment for Branson.
Kimmel, briefly joined on stage by Will Arnett, told Stern: [Arnett]isn’t it funny?’ – because I know [‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’] would beat John Oliver – ‘What if you drag me out and tell me I’m upset and that I’ve had a few drinks and I’m unconscious?'”

However, Kimmel misjudged what the stunt would look like.
“But the stage was completely different. I have, but the fact of the matter is… this was the plan I had, whoever it was. [won]”

Kimmel admits: [my prank] As well as celebrating her Emmy Award.
“Strangely enough, incidentally, when I saw [‘Abbott Elementary’] The pilot… I called the people in charge of ABC and said, ‘This is a great show. This is the kind of show you should make.’
“Then I reached out to Quinta – this was a few months before the show premiered – and told her how I felt about it.
