Roughriders Sign Saskatoon’s David Soley

The Saskatchewan Roughriders added depth nationally on Tuesday with the signing of placekicker/punter David Soley and offensive lineman Zach Frye.

A native of Saskatoon, Solly spent four seasons with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. In his 32 games as a placekicker, he connected in 32 of his 61 field goals, with a shooting percentage of his 76.3%. He also averaged 38.6 yards on punts and 53.3 yards on kickoffs.

Solly has played for the Huskies in the 2021 and 2022 Vanier Cup. He was a Western Canada All-Star in 2022 and a first-team All-Canadian in 2021. He participated in the Saskatoon Hilltops and the Canadian Junior Football Championship in 2018.
Frye (6 feet 6 and 304 pounds) was selected by the Riders in the second round (16th overall) of the 2022 CFL Draft. He returned to the University of Western Ontario for the fourth season of his U-Sports eligibility after attending training camp with the Riders.

Frye was named an OUA All-Star and second-team Usports All-Canadian in 2022. All Canada.
