Eilish Meissen has honed and honed his songwriting skills over the years, living in places like his native Ireland, the Middle East, Sweden, Australia and Canada, where he has lived since 2007.
She has built a very successful career while watching and learning from many of the best in the industry and avoiding many of the pitfalls artists can fall into.
While many musicians cite famous performers as influences, Mythen goes straight to poets and prose writers for her writing influences. For her, her ability to bring her songs (stories) to life is to put the listener in the middle of it all. That is, to engage the listener and take him on a journey.
Mythen will perform for the Vernon Folk-Roots Music Society at the Vernon Jazz Club on Wednesday, November 9th.
When asked what Vernon’s audience could expect from her show, she responded: The same show that I present to my audience, full of sincerity to the songs. In these trying times, people are looking for fulfilling and enriching experiences. I want you all to feel free to chat with me after the show… that we laughed together, cried together, and maybe for a little while that we solved some of the world’s problems to know and leave. “
Mythen’s latest release, 2019’s Little Bones, has won 2 out of 7 nominations at Music PEI. It was nominated for Juno’s Contemporary Roots Artist of the Year 2020 and he was named Solo Artist of the Year 2020 by the Canadian Folk Music Alliance.
