Pubs and Pipers Supporting Children’s Christmas in North Okanagan

It’s time to pay Piper.

Calamarca Pipers have come to a nearby watering hole to find a community that will dig deep to support their children this Christmas.

To raise money for Santas Anonymous Society, Piper will attend the Vernon Pub Crawl on December 2nd at 5pm.

Two pipers and a drummer play while Santas Anonymous volunteers collect donations.

The money raised will be used to buy gifts for parents who are struggling to prepare Christmas presents for their children.

Perry Wainwright, president of Santa’s Anonymous, said: “There are about 400 children we are helping.

Those not doing well during the pub tour can help brighten the season for underprivileged families by donating new or infrequently used toys.

Donation boxes can be found at various businesses around town, including Cobs Bread, which rewards donors with toys.

“They’ve already filled the barrel once,” said Wainwright.

There is also a box at The Morning Star, 4407 25th Ave., where donations can receive free newspapers.

New and infrequently used toys for children 12 and under are needed, and the need for items for girls is increasing this year.

Gloves and mitts, slippers and socks are also required.

Santas Anonymous is open 24/7 to support families on Christmas and birthdays.

If you need help, call 250-542-4448 to make an appointment and bring your child care card.
