Physique of lacking Quebec kayaker present in Lake Champlain

Police say the physique of a kayaker reported lacking south of Montreal on July 31 has been discovered roughly 11.5 kilometres from his final recognized location.

Quebec provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Valérie Beauchamp says a member of the general public found a person’s physique in Lake Champlain close to Venise-en-Québec, Que. at round 6:30 p.m. Friday night.

The Quebec coroner’s workplace later recognized him as 25-year-old Matthieu Lesage, who was final seen kayaking additional south within the lake close to Clarenceville, Que. at round 8:00 p.m. on Monday.

Family members reported him lacking when he did not return house that night time, resulting in what Beauchamp described as a big search operation by provincial police in collaboration with the RCMP and American authorities.

Lesage’s kayak was discovered Tuesday morning throughout the lake close to Philipsburg, Que., near the U.S. border.

A coroner is working to verify his explanation for loss of life.
