As many will remember, it was at this year’s Academy Awards where Will slapped host Chris Rock in the face after the comedian joked about Jada. Appearing on The Daily Show, Will called the moment “terrifying.”

“It was a terrifying night, as you can imagine. There are a lot of nuances and complexities. But at the end of the day, I just — I lost it, didn’t I?” “And what I mean is you never know what someone is going through, right? You’re sitting next to a stranger in the audience right now and someone’s mother said last week Someone has died, someone’s child is sick, someone has lost their job, someone has just discovered that their spouse has cheated.”

“It’s like — there’s all this and they’re strangers and they don’t know what’s going on with people. It doesn’t change,” he added.

Although he said what he was going through did not justify his actions that night, the “King Richard” star said his biggest lesson from that moment was the importance of kindness. said it was

“You ask what I learned. It’s that we have to be kind to each other,” he emphasized. I think I made it difficult for others, and I understand the idea, they say that people who hurt people hurt people.

Reflecting on his own past and the violence he said he witnessed in his home, Will said everything “bubbled” in that moment.

“It was a lot. It was a little boy watching his father beat his mother. Everything bubbled up in that moment,” said Will. “I just — that’s not who I want to be.”

Will has since apologized to the comedian who published the video on social media, calling his behavior “unacceptable” and expressing deep remorse. Towards “I can tell you, there is no part of me that thinks it was the right thing to do in that moment.” I am nowhere.”

Following Will’s apology, a source told ET that The Rock had no plans to contact the actor. He needs the public’s forgiveness, not Chris’s,” the source added.
