The Montreal Force began their first season in the Premier Hockey Federation by splitting two road games against the Buffalo Boats.

The Force, the extended professional women’s hockey team, won 5-4 on Saturday in a game requiring eight rounds of shootouts before Samantha Isbell decided the winner.

However, a strong goalkeeping performance by Terra Hoffman enabled Butz to secure a 3-2 win on Sunday. The Force beat the home side 33-18 for him, but Hoffman proved difficult to beat.

Montreal came back from a 2-0 deficit with a goal from Deziray De Sousa in the second period and an early goal from Christina Shanahan in the third period. Autumn McDougall, however, took a stretch pass from Angelica Defendal to beat Mare Soleil Descheines with a breakaway to the winning goal at 8:10 of the third period. McDougall struggled to control the puck, but hefted it over Dechene’s blocker.

Neither team scored on the power play, but Montreal coach Peter Smith had trouble managing the line as the Force were short-handed six times. Beauts he had to kill three penalties.

“It was a good game today,” Smith said. “We have done many good things in many ways. I played better today than yesterday. We controlled the play 5-5, but we have to leave the penalty box. All in all it was a good weekend for the group. W.The game should be played and this is a good start. ”

The Force only played one exhibition game before the season.

On Saturday, the Force took a 4-3 lead with third-period goals from Sarah Lefort and Kim Dechene, but Claudia Kepler scored at 16:33 to send the game into extra time.

captain Ann-Sophie Bettz and Jade Downie-Landry scored the other Montreal goals.

The Force are off next weekend before playing two games in Montreal against the New Jersey-based Metropolitan Riveters. They will perform at the Verdun Auditorium on November 26th at 2pm and at the Raymond Burke Arena in Saint Laurent the following afternoon.
