Buffalo woman wins outright Niagara Falls half marathon

On Sunday, October 23rd, the Niagara Falls International Marathon returned for the first time in three years. Two female runners finished on the podium during the race weekend. The 24-year-old Reinhardt won the half marathon alone in 1:15:03, two minutes before the first men crossed the finish line. Reinhardt said she was a walk-on for the University of Albany XC team in 2017, and four years later she was on her way to one of the most prestigious track and field programs in the country. Reinhardt lives and trains in Buffalo and works as a cultural coordinator for a non-profit organization. Reinhardt has plans to keep dreaming big and has a desire to one day qualify for the US Olympic trials.

“This was our first real test stepping into competitive racing,” says Reinhardt. She underwent foot surgery earlier this year after breaking the navicular bone in her leg last November.“My love for the sport is undeniable, and I am determined to stay healthy and find a coach. Nearly 2,500 runners attended the Niagara Falls International Race Weekend, which hadn’t been held since before the pandemic.
