highway.401 East-facing collector lane closed after a female pedestrian crashed and was seriously injured

In Toronto, a female pedestrian was beaten and seriously injured on a crowded highway, after which the east-facing collector lane of highway 401 was closed.

Just before 1 pm, a truck struck her in the eastbound collector’s lane, just east of Yonge Street.

“When the woman was hit by a transport truck, she was clearly in the lane. Our investigation was clearly just beginning, identifying exactly what led her to that location and why. I’m trying, “said Ontario Police Sgt. Kelly Schmidt said in a Twitter post.

Pedestrians were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the east-facing collector lane was closed between Allen Road and Younge Street for the collision reconstruction team to investigate. Police investigations have also closed the ramp from Allen Road to the north to Highway 401 to the east.

The closure is expected to last for several hours, Schmidt said.

He said the truck driver stopped and was cooperating with the police.

According to Schmidt, OPP wants to talk to those who have witnessed the clash.

“If there are witnesses, if someone sees what happened, or if someone sees a pedestrian just before the collision that happened just a few minutes ago, we certainly want to talk to you. I think, “Schmidt said.

He urged anyone with information, especially those with dashcam footage or pedestrians, to call the Toronto OPP Detachment.
