The jury trial in this case will begin this morning in a court in downtown Toronto.

In a two-day preliminary hearing in the summer of 2019, band Hedley frontman Hoggard pleaded not guilty to causing physical harm and sexual interference from sexual assault.

However, public health measures aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19 put the court on hold for several months at a time during the pandemic, and the trial was postponed several times. I did.

Currently, it is scheduled to start operation until early June.

Hogard was arrested and charged in 2018 in an alleged involvement of a woman and a teenager, police said in the Toronto area in 2016.

Police began investigating the case after allegations surfaced suggesting that Hogard had an improper encounter with a young fan.

Long before his arrest, the singer issued a statement denying non-consensual sexual activity. However, he acted like an “objective woman” and admitted that he “recklessly denied their feelings.”

Hedley has been removed by management after allegations surfaced, blacklisted by several radio stations, and has been dormant indefinitely since 2018.
