The 32-year-old Nashville actress spent years fighting addiction. Then, after she gave birth to her daughter Kaya in 2014, she suffered from her postpartum depression.

“I was at the top of the world and ruined it,” Panettia told the magazine. “I think I hit the bottom of the rock, but then there’s a trapdoor that opens.”

“I did a lot of work on myself, and I had to be willing to be incredibly honest,” she says of getting help.

“This wasn’t an easy task, and there were many ups and downs,” said Panettia, who shares her daughter with former Wladimir Klitschko, on her journey to drinking. “But I don’t regret even the ugliest thing that happened to me. I feel incredibly accomplished. And I feel like I have a second chance.”

Panettia, who gained fame at an early age, reveals how he was offered a “happy pill” at the age of 15 to deal with the look of the red carpet.

“They should have cheered me up during the interview,” Panettia told the magazine. “I didn’t know that this wasn’t the right thing to do, or what the door would open if I became addicted.”

She states:But things continued to go out of control [off set].. And as I grew older, drugs and alcohol became a must for me.

“They were really tough years,” admits Panettia, whose actual pregnancy was written in her role in Juliet Burns in “Nashville” in 2014. “I could be involved in many stories like alcoholism and postpartum depression. They struck near my house.”

Panettia, who did not drink during pregnancy but then drank, describes the fight against alcoholism as follows: There was this gray in my life. “

She said she went out for a drink secretly, and her relationship with Klitschko, who started dating in 2009, suffered.

“He didn’t want to be around me,” Panettia recalls. “I didn’t want to be around myself. But with opiates and alcohol, I was doing something to feel happy for a moment, which made me feel sicker than before. . I was in a cycle of self-destruction. “

She describes her lowest point as “there was a shake when I woke up and it only worked with drinking.”

Panettia sent Kaya to live with Klitschko in Ukraine in 2018 after the pair said they had stopped it.

“That was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do,” she recalls. “But I wanted to be a good mom for her. Sometimes that means letting them go.”

Panettia’s drinking worsened and she suffered from jaundice and was hospitalized.

“The doctor told me that my liver would come out,” she tells the magazine. “I’m not 20 years old anymore and I was able to bounce off quickly.”

Panettia finally started rehab for eight months and was able to “overcome” the addiction.

“It’s a daily choice and I always check in myself,” she reveals. “But I am very grateful to be able to rejoin this world. I never take it for granted.”
