Grammy Award-winning duo The Judds Naomi Judd dies at age 76

Naomi Judd, a Kentucky-born singer from the Grammy-winning duo The Judds and mother of Wynonna and Ashley Judd, has died. She was 76 years old.

The daughters announced her death on Saturday in a statement provided to the Associated Press.

“Today, our sisters have experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to a mental illness,” the statement said. “We have shattered. We have overcome her deep sorrow and we know she was loved by the masses because we loved her. We are unknown. I’m in the realm of. “The statement didn’t elaborate any further.

The Judds are to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, and they have announced their first tour, the Arena Tour, which begins in the fall, together in just over a decade.

The mother-daughter performer won the No. 1 of 14 songs in her nearly 30-year career. They called her quit in 1991 after a doctor diagnosed Naomi Judd as hepatitis after jumping to the top of country music.

Judd’s hits include 1990’s “Love Can Build a Bridge”, 1984’s “Mama He’s Crazy”, 1984’s “Why Not Me”, 1988’s “Turn It Loose”, and 1985’s “Girls Night”. There are “Out”, “Rock in” and so on. “Rain Rhythm” in 1986 and “Grandpa” in 1986.

Naomi from Kentucky worked as a nurse when she and Winona started singing together professionally. Their unique harmony, along with elements of acoustic music, bluegrass and blues, stood out in the genre of the time.

Judds released six studio albums and one EP between 1984 and 1991, and received nine Country Music Association Awards and seven Country Music Academy Awards. They won a total of five Grammy Awards together with hits such as “Why Not Me” and “Give A Little Love.”

Judds sang about the virtues of family, marriage beliefs, and loyalty. Naomi looked so young that they were mistaken for sisters early in their careers.

Her daughter Ashley Judd is an actor known for her role in movies such as “Kiss the Girls,” “Double Jeopardy,” and “Heat.”

Naomi Judd is also alive by her husband and singer Larry Strickland, who was a backup singer for Elvis Presley.
