Former WHL defenseman named West Kelowna Warriors captain – Kelowna Capital News

New season, new players, new “C”.

The West Kelowna Warriors have chosen a captain for the season who has a lot of junior hockey experience, even though he just joined the BCHL team this offseason.

Aidan Reeves, 20, has spent the last three seasons with the Prince George Cougars of the WHL in his hometown, adding two assists in 33 games last season. He also had experience with the Okanagan his Rockets during the 2018-19 campaign.

The 6’3-inch, 190-pound defenseman said he was “extremely” honored to have the opportunity.

“We have a deep and competitive group that I feel has a lot of potential. .”

As for the captain’s crew, assistants will be named at a later date, said general manager and head coach Simon Ferguson.

“With so many new players this year, we wanted to give them time to nominate our full leadership group,” Ferguson said. But he’s shown he’s a leader on the outside, and I felt it was important to formally name him as captain before the regular season started.”

Reeves’ tenure as captain will begin soon when the Warriors hit the road on Sept. 23 against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
