TribalScale Rebuilds ArriveCan App, Proposes Canadian Technology Consortium, The Canadian Business Journal

TORONTO, Oct. 10, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — On Oct. 7, 2022, the Canadian government revealed that it has spent $54 million on the ArriveCan app. This is the tool used by a traveler to upload her COVID-related mandatory health information – bar 19. Many of Canada’s top tech players have been held back by development costs charged by the Canadian government. To showcase the prowess of the Canadian tech community, TribalScale, a Toronto-based digital innovation lab, gathered over the weekend to host a spontaneous hackathon to rebuild ArriveCan.

TribalScale CEO Sheetal Jaitly said: The purpose of this was to show how smart and talented the Canadian tech community is and to provide new resources to help the Government of Canada procure tech services. ”

TribalScale concluded the hackathon on October 10, 2022. After two days of work, the team was able to recreate his ArriveCan app and tomorrow afternoon he will be releasing Git and a full demo. Here’s a quick video preview of what has been created so far. TribalScale was able to provide the following capabilities:

Membership flow
Created functionality to add travel documents
Created the ability to add additional traveler profiles to your account
Ability to save traveler details for future trips
Ability to complete a tax return (approximately 10 questions)
Ability to enter travel information; integration with API for list of airport options
Scan a passport or PR card to create placeholders for adding traveler details
List of linked traveler resources

TribalScale is also taking the initiative to form The Canadian Technology Consortium. “We are forming this consortium of digital leaders to be a free advisory resource for the Canadian government at all levels across the country for any current or future digital questions. Digital ecosystem within government. We are encouraging leaders in the Canadian tech community to apply now,” said Jaitly.

The consortium’s first meeting will be held this Friday, October 14th at 7:45am. TribalScale’s mission statement is Right The Future, and this is just another way to make it happen. ”
