One dies, another injured in crash near Mildmay

One person has died and another has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash near Mildmay on Thursday evening.

Just after 7:30 p.m., South Bruce OPP received a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Bruce Rd. 28 and Bruce Rd. 6 in the former Carrick Township.

Officers responded to the scene along with members of the Mildmay-Carrick Fire Department and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services, South Bruce OPP said in a news release.

One person was pronounced deceased with their identity being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Another person was airlifted to a London hospital for treatment of serious injuries, the release said.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team are assisting the South Bruce OPP with the investigation, which was in its early stages.

Bruce Rd. 28 and Bruce Rd. 6 were both closed near the scene, but were reopened early Friday morning.
