Jimmy Kimmel will take a break from “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”.

The host of the second half of the show announced on Twitter and Instagram with the news that his daughter brought COVID-19 home.

“Our daughter brought us Covid (even though we specifically asked her not to do so),” he jokingly revealed.

He shares his 7-year-old daughter Jane and 4-year-old son Billy with his wife Molly McNi Ni. Kimmel is also the father of 30-year-old Katie and 27-year-old Kevin, and lives with his ex-wife, Gina Kimmel.

The comedian reassured fans that he was doing well, even though he was currently in contact with the virus.

“Everything is fine and I’m boosted with double vaxxed, but the show shouldn’t continue,” he said. “I apologize to @Tom Cruise and @iliza and thank Mike Birbiglia @birbigs for filling in for me from tomorrow night.”

Kimmel apologized to Tom Cruise and Iliza Shlesinger, who were scheduled to appear in the episode, and thanked Mike Barbigria for his temporary hosting.

“I have to be the first person to get off a Southwest Airlines flight and find out that they are hosting a late-night talk show as a guest,” Bill Viglia responded to the news. He will take on the hosting business from Wednesday.

It is unknown how long Kimmel’s rest period will last.
