FIFA World Cup: Canada leave Qatar with no points after losing 2-1 to Morocco – National

Canada exited the World Cup scoreless after losing 2-1 to Morocco in the final group stage match.

Canada dug a hole early on and could not find a way out despite a surge in the second half.

As a result, Canada failed to win the World Cup for the first time in 36 years.

Goals from Hakim Ziyech and Youssef En-Nesyri gave No. 22 Morocco the top spot in Group F, taking advantage of Canada’s fearsome defense to take a 2-0 lead in the 23rd minute.

Canada benefited from a Nayef Aguerd own goal to cut the lead to 2-1 at halftime.
