Fantasy football: Broncos and Rams switch RB
Article content
It’s not every week that we see the two teams cut straight the starting running backs from a week ago.

But with Melvin Gordon III and Darrell Henderson Jr. hitting real waiver wires, the Broncos and Rams, respectively, have new feature backs ready for Week 12.

Looking at their faces, the movement already looks pretty weird, but if you look closer, it gets even weirder.
In Denver, Gordon’s fumble became unbearable for the team and they decided to release him. MG3 entered the season in a split backfield with sophomore Javonte Williams, who tore his ACL in Week 4. The team brought in Latavius Murray to split Gordon and Carey, and later Bradley Chubb. Landed Chase Edmonds in a trade sent to Miami.

But before cutting Gordon, there were reports that Edmonds suffered a major ankle sprain that kept him out for weeks, making Murray the last man standing.

Murray has had his practice limited this week by a wrist injury, and Marlon Mack could play a bigger role than anyone expected a week ago.
The Broncos’ offense scores the fewest points in the league, 1.2 fewer points per game than the Texans, but there’s always value in having a mainstay RB in the lineup.
RAM Shackle
The Rams’ running game has been weird this season, leading up to this week’s move.
Henderson started the season as the lead in Los Angeles, ahead of putative starter Kam Akers. Two splits follow in the next few weeks, neither of which is particularly effective behind a mediocre offensive line.
Akers then left the team, apparently upset by his usage, and the Rams tried to trade him before the deadline last month. Coming back to the team, he was not effective on the field.

But let’s not forget Killen Williams. He suffered an injury after suffering the sleeper hype in the preseason, which kept him off the field for the first nine weeks of the season.
Where is this chaos leading us now? Henderson is now in Jacksonville after the Jags claimed him on waivers, but Akers and Williams look set to split carries for the league’s third-worst scoring offense.
With Matt Stafford left out and Bryce Perkins starting in QB against the Chiefs, things aren’t going to get any better this week. With Cooper Kupp nowhere to be seen, this whole attack looks like something to avoid for the time being.
