R&B singer B. Smith, who rose to stardom with hits like “Lego” and “Twerkaholic,” has died. he was 28 years old.
Denzil Smith, the singer’s brother, posted on Instagram in an emotional video that B. Smith, born Brandon Smith, died Thursday morning of respiratory failure after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He added that while the singer was in ICU, fans created a social media challenge for his latest single “Twerkaholic Part 2,” which brought him many smiles. .
“Twerkaholic” was released in 2014 and quickly became a fan favorite. Music has had over 17 million views on his videos and over 13 million views on Spotify. “Twerkaholic Part 2” was released last month.
B. Smith collaborated with rapper 2 Chainz on his 2012 debut single, “Leggo,” which peaked at number 12 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart. He also worked with Future on “Win, Win” and “Gettin’ That”. In 2018, he collaborated with singer LightSkinKeisha for “Ride Good,” the music of which his video on YouTube earned him over 30 million views.
This year alone, B. Smith dropped “On Me,” “Plan B,” “Fall in Love,” “I Love U So,” and “Own My Heart.”
The singer’s brother said he would update fans soon about the funeral arrangements, adding that there may be a livestream for those unable to attend the funeral in Florida.
